Medical Qi Gong Course

Typically a six weekend course, 3 days (~16hrs) per weekend.

Topic One: The Foundation

Session One: Lecture on the classical and historical foundations of Chinese Qi Gong theory, practice and therapy.  Emphasis will be placed on the traditional Taoist and Buddhist teachings, from the practical to the mystical. Exercises on using different breathing techniques to circulate and store Qi in the 3 Dantiens, as well as a detailed explanation of the functions and relationships of these Dantiens, Instruction on the Swimming Dragon Qi Gong and the Tai Qi Dao Yin Forms.

Session Two: Lecture on the science of energy.  What can modern science teach us about Qi?  How do anatomy and physiology relate to Qi in a body, and how do different states of consciousness affect Qi?  There will be adetailed exploration of what is called Zero Point energy (in physics) and how mind plays a role in the states of this energy, even in so-called "objective" experimental conditions.  This proves that consciousness, on many levels, dictates reality and states of matter, and therefore can change body
conditions, life circumstances, and even bend certain physical "laws."  A review of the first form, the Tai Qi Dao Yin, its origins, theory and practice. Basic exercises on scanning the body for imbalance, sensing emotions through your own sensations, and how to redirect the flow of Qi when necessary will lead us to a discussion on the levels of Qi in the organs, in one's field and how these levels have resonance with the natural world. From there, we will have a review of t he second form, The Pangushengong, its origins, theory and practice. Basic exercises on emitting Qi to help someone heal will lead to a discussion on the Pan Gu theory of human evolution and what it means to go from a state of antagonism, to tolerance and, finally to resonance, both within one's own body and with all of the natural world.

Session Three: Tong Ren theory, practice and application. This enables one to make anything represent anything else so that any object can be used to help direct and ground healing energy on behalf of a patient. Detailed treatment strategies will be discussed as well as using this technique to improve life circumstances: health, wealth, personal relationships and creativity.  Now that the foundation is set, the program moves into specific applications of these skills.

Topic Two: The Tang Dynasty's View of Human Evolution, Destiny and How this is Encoded in the Human Spine; The Brain and Nervous System in Qi Gong Practice and the Treatment of Emotional Disorders and Diseases of the Nervous System

Session One: Lecture on the Tang Dynasty's view of Human Evolution leads to a discussion of how each person's destiny can be read through the spine and how treating the spine can improve both the general health but also positively influence life circumstances. From there, there will be instruction in a Qi Gong style specific to the nervous system called the Da Peng Gong.

Session Two: Mapping the Brain.  This lecture will focus on the various centers of the brain and how they govern our physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual faculties. We'll use practical techniques to emit Qi to these centers to help bring them into balance, as well as energizing them for enhanced abilities in memory, perception, Qi storage and for extra sensory
perception. Nervous System Disorders: The lecture will focus on the diseases of the nervous system such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, strokes, ALS (Lou Gerhig's disease), chronic pain, migraines and multiple sclerosis, to name a few. We'll discuss how to use very effective treatment strategies and detailed protocols that can often reverse the effects of these problems and, in many cases, free the person from them completely.

Session Three: Two approaches to emotional well-being. 1) How do the ancient Chinese view emotional health? What are the Taoist understandings of the relationship of Spirit, living in a balanced and harmonious way, and a stable, clear and cheerful mindset? The lecture will focus on the Taoist understanding of the two hearts: The physical "pump" and the spiritual seat of consciousness. 2) We'll discuss brain chemistry, the endocrine system and the emotional centers of the brain, and discuss strategies and protocols for treating simple depression to mental illness.

Topic Three: Treatment Skills

Session One: How to establish energetic as well as verbal rapport. For this, we'll introduce the Taoist concept of the physical and spiritual hearts (2) and what it means to establish contact with the spiritual heart created when two or more people interact, how to read this heart, and how to communicate through it. Next, well take the art of the interview one step further with how to direct attention while having a conversation so that a patient's imbalances are in the act of being corrected before formal treatment has begun.

Session Two: The teaching of the Shao Lin Buddhist Qi Gong. Yi Jin Jing (changing the tendons), its origins, history and practice. From there we lead into a lecture on how structural problems can lead to internal disease, and how internal disharmonies may lead to structural problems, and how to treat them. Detailed lecture on Dr. Tan's Balance Method, its philosophy and applications in Qi Gong therapy. The use of Brain Wave entrainment in directing Qi (a more advanced level of Tong Ren).

Topic Four: Disease and the Spirit

Session One: The pathology and the treatment of cancer. The Lin Family Qi Gong will be taught as one of the methods for reducing tumors. The lecture will be on the classical Taoist understanding of cancer as a disease, and then the modern day understanding of this disease, and how these two concepts can be blended to create a highly effective treatment strategy.

Session Two: The pathology and the treatment of HIV and AIDS. The emphasis will be on present day research and traditional methods. How old and new may actually be the answer to this perplexing disease.

Session Three: Teaching the Pangushengong Non-moving Qi Gong. This Qi Gong deals primarily with the refinement of one's heart and soul. Master Ou's understanding of this evolution will be discussed as part of the instruction. Then there will be lecture on the Taoist understanding of "Yi" (The Wisdom Mind) and how the Taoists see it as a gateway to enlightenment as well as a means for helping patients find their way free of harmful patterns.

Topic Five: Taoist Meditation, Mysticism, Microcosm and Macrocosm

Session One: There will be lecture on the fundamentals of Taoist mysticism, magic and sorcery. From there, we'll explore the meditation techniques of the Taoist classic: The Secret of The Golden Flower.

Session Two: Instruction on the practical techniques on the uses of cultivated energy to blend with natural frequencies in herbs, cosmic energy and spiritual forces, as well as how to harmonize and utilize natural forces such as weather, bodies of water, trees, desert, etc., for healing; as well as how to harness them all together to create energetic "remedies."

Session Three: Universal energetic downloads: How everything that is in a body exists as a Universal archetypal template. How do we connect to this collective, and then how do we align a patient's energetic patterns with this Universal, healthy template?

Topic Six: The Integration

Session One: Incorporating The Balance Method, Applied Qi Gong (Fa Gong), Brain Wave Entrainment, energetic "downloads" (the Archetypal patterns of organs and systems) and the use of frequencies in the treatment of acute and chronic pain, internal disease and emotional disorders.

Session Two: A lecture on how world religions and belief systems influence healing as well as the quality (rather than quantity) of a person's Qi. The emphasis will be on what is universal to all faith systems and how these concepts can be harnessed in a treatment situation by the practitioner on behalf of a patient as well as using the patient's own belief system to her/his
advantage to initiate healing.

Session Three:
How to form an Energetic Collective. We'll discuss how to use group energy for such things as treatments, protection, creativity, the amplification of existing abilities and how to create favorable life circumstances through group intention. How to use this to develop the Taoist concept of "Thousand Mile Eyes," a projection of consciousness anywhere: in a body, a place - even in time.

Please note at the completion of this Medical Qi Gong course, a student is not awarded a license to conduct Qi Gong healing sessions.  It is the sole responsibility of the student to determine their specific State's requirement for conducting Qi Gong Healing Sessions.
